WEDDINGS

If you are recently engaged, congratulations and best wishes! And if you're reading this, you must be interested in asking us to walk with you as you prepare to make the vows of Holy Matrimony.

On this page, you'll find the Wedding Customary for this parish. We invite you to read it thoroughly before contacting the Rector, as it will likely answer many of your questions. If, after reading, you still have questions or are interested in speaking with the Rector about solemnizing your marriage at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, please call our office.

Holy Cross does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression or race. Interfaith couples are welcome to be married at Holy Cross so long as one member of the couple is a Baptized Christian. Divorced couples are also welcome to apply for marriage, but the Rector must receive permission from the Bishop before solemnizing the marriage. Membership in the parish is not required to be married here, but it is encouraged, and we hope you will join us.

Holy Cross is a church, not a wedding venue. As a result, only the rites of the Book of Common Prayer (or other liturgies approved by this Church) may be used for any wedding. All marriages are governed by Canon 18 of the Canon Law of The Episcopal Church.

It is important that couples not approach the Rector with a firm date in hand. The Parish Calendar and the Rector's calendar are often planned far in advance. So, it's essential to be flexible about the date and time. Furthermore, while a date can be discussed and initially scheduled at the first meeting, the Rector will not give a firm commitment to solemnize any marriage until all canonical obligations are fulfilled.
